CONSTRUCTION:

Farafan RTJG is machined from solid metal in a variety of shapes and designed for high pressure, high temperature or highly corrosive applications by selecting the most suitable material and shape. It is designed to withstand exceptionally high assembly loads over a small area, thus producing high seating stresses.
Can be ordered according to the detailed drawing

ORDERING EXAMPLE:

Ring Joint Gasket (RJG), Material: SS304
6500 OV-304; API 6A, R30-Oval

STYLE R

This is the basic type of RTJ gasket and widely used in petrochemical industries. They are classified as two types base on the cross-section. They are
Oval
Octagonal
Ring Type Joint (RTJ) Gasket Basics and Types
The original design of the R type gasket is Oval. The octagonal RTJ is a modification to the oval design and provides better sealing. R type rings are used for the flange rating from Class 150 to 2500. The surface finish of the gasket shall not be rougher than 63µ inches. The octagonal type is highly used when to compare with oval type because of high sealing efficiency.
Ring type joint style RR type ring joint gaskets are available in oval or octagonal cross section and manufactured in accordance to API 6A and ASME B16.20 to suit API 6B and ASME/ANSI B16.5 flanges.

The oval ring fits the round and flat bottom ring groove flange, while the octagonal shape fits only the modern flat bottom groove flange.

STYLE RX

RX type gaskets are fit into the same groove sizes of R type gaskets for interchangeability. The RX type gasket is wider than the R type gasket. Hence the flange face-to-face separation will be higher when compared with the R type gasket. RX type gaskets are normally specified up to Class 5000 flanges. The surface finish of the gasket shall not be rougher than 63µ inches. The asymmetric cross-section makes the gasket self-energising.
This type of gasket is widely used for the application where more effective sealing required and also resist vibrations, shock loadings, etc.,
RTJ style rxThe RX type RTJ gasket is manufactured in accordance to API 6A and ASME B16.20 to suit API 6B and ASME/ANSI B16.5 flanges. The RX is a pressure energized version of the R octagonal gasket and fits the R type flat bottomed groove.
The RX has an increased height and utilises the internal system pressure to energise and improve the seal as internal pressure increases. Some RX sizes have a pressure relief hole to equalise pressure both sides of the sealing faces.

STYLE BX

BX type gaskets are only suitable for API 6 BX type flanges. These gaskets are used for the Class rating of 2000 to 20000 psi. The BX type gasket has a pressure passage hole for pressure equalization on each sealing face sides. The surface finish of the gasket shall not be rougher than 32µ inches.
Ring Type Joint (RTJ) Gasket Basics and Types
Type BX gaskets are not interchangeable with R or RX gaskets. The groove on a flange which accommodates a BX gasket is dimensionally different to that for R and RX gaskets
The pitch diameter of the ring is slightly greater than the pitch diameter of the flange groove. This preloads the gasket and creates a pressure energized seal. It is particularly important to check the flange face-to-face separation which must be uniform around the entire circumference of the flange.
style bxThe BX type RTJ gaskets are manufactured in accordance with API 6A and are suitable for use in high pressure API 6BX flanges.
The gaskets form a metal to metal seal on assembly and the efficiency improves as internal pressure increases. All BX sizes have a pressure relief hole to equalise pressure across sealing faces.

CSRX and SBX RTJ gaskets to API 17D for subsea applications.

IX rings for compact flanges
Other non-standard styles of metal rings are also available like combination, IX, Delta and Lens to customer specifications
