Turbulator

Post by Mohsen Alamdar, Sep 05, 2019.
semi-metallic

CONSTRUCTION:

Turbulators are designed to create and maintain turbulent flow and help to increase the tube-side heat transfer efficiency. A turbulator is a device which is inserted on the tube side of firetube boilers, shell & tube heat exchangers and other types of heat transfer equipment.
Won’t harm boilers or heat exchangers
Eliminates laminar flow and promotes turbulence
Increases heat transfer efficiency
Cost Effective

APPLICATIONS & CONFIGURATIONS

Our Turbulators are not “one-size-fits-all” solutions. They are custom-made for every application. Turbulators are available in a variety of configurations to fit most tube sizes and many types of heat exchange equipment:

Angular Turbulators

The Angular (or Brock) Turbulator is primarily used in applications where there are gases inside the tubes or flue passes of boilers, and other types of heat exchange equipment.
With an Angular (Brock “Fuel-Saver”) Turbulator, You Use up to 3-5% Less Energy to do the Same Job How an Angular Turbulator Works: Angular “Brock” Turbulators are small devices, made of metal strip, that are designed to sit within tubes. As gas or fluid flows past them, the nuanced geometry of the turbulator disperses the gas/fluid and forces it to mix, that is, add turbulence. Dispersal also causes the gas/fluid to transfer more of its energy to the tube wall. Function: Angular turbulators serve to improve heat transfer efficiency in firetube boilers and other similar heat exchange equipment.
Material: Typically carbon steel, aluminized steel and various grades of stainless steel
Maximum Temperature: Dependent Upon Material Choice
Minimum Tube Outside Diameter: 1 inch
Maximum Tube Outside Diameter: 36 inch
Minimum/Maximum Length: Unlimited
Additional Services: JIT (Just In Time) Delivery, Fuel Efficiency will make and warehouse for next day shipment
Typical Lead Time: 1-2 Weeks; depending upon material availability and production schedule

APPLICATIONS

The Angular Turbulator is primarily used in applications where there are gases inside the tubes or flue passes of boilers, and other types of heat exchange equipment.
Firetube Boilers
Cast Iron Sectional Boilers
Radiant Heaters
Vertical Tube Boilers

INSTALLATION

Angular Turbulators are shipped ready to install and require minimal boiler/burner modifications. The average installation takes one to four hours. In many cases there’s no downtime or loss of heat or steam pressure.

Coiled Rod Turbulators

Coiled Rod Turbulators offer another way to increase heat transfer efficiency in tubular heat exchange equipment. Like the Angular Turbulator, the Coiled Rod Turbulator is normally used in gaseous applications.

How Coiled Rod or Spring Turbulators Work

Turbulators break-up the laminar flow of fluids or gasses inside the tubes or flue passes of heat exchange equipment to promote greater contact with the tube wall resulting in more even heat distribution and improvement in heat transfer coefficients. They are custom-made for every application and fabricated in such a way that the coil OD closely matches the tube ID, providing the greatest measure of conductive heat transfer. Turbulators can help to extend equipment life by eliminating hot and cool spots that cause thermal stress and can also reduce the formation of soot by improving combustion characteristics to lower maintenance costs. Learn more about how turbulators work. Twisted Tape Turbulators

As the name implies, the Twisted Tape Turbulator is formed in a helical fashion and is typically used in shell & tube heat exchanger applications where there are fluids inside the tubes.

How Twisted Tape Turbulators Work

Twisted Tape Turbulators are an economical means of enhancing heat transfer in new and existing equipment. It is common knowledge that enhancement is achieved by inducing a swirling and mixing action of tubeside fluid causing higher near wall velocities which eliminates thermal boundary layer and the corresponding insulating effect. Using state of the art, high speed equipment our seasoned staff fabricate to your specification.
Function: Improve heat transfer efficiency in tubular heat exchange equipment
Materials: Typically Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel or Copper. If we can source the alloy, we can fabricate it.

Process Turbulators

Process Turbulators improve the efficiency and extend the life of your Line Heaters, Dehydration Units, Water Bath Heaters, Reboilers, Tube Type Heat Exchangers Immersion/Vat Heaters… and other process heaters.

How Process Turbulators Work

Our process turbulators are a simple, yet highly effective solution for reducing maintenance, extending equipment life and increasing efficiency of process heaters. Process turbulators are NOT turn-key products – each is designed specifically to fit your equipment exactly. As combustion gasses flows past them, the nuanced geometry of the turbulator disperses the gas/fluid and forces it to mix, that is, add turbulence. Dispersal causes gasses to transfer more energy to the tube wall.
Function: Improve Heat Transfer Efficiency in process heaters of various types
Material: Typically carbon steel and stainless steel. However, if we can source the alloy we can fabricate it
Maximum Temperature: Dependent Upon Material Choice
Minimum Tube Outside Diameter: 4 inch
Maximum Tube Outside Diameter: 36 inch
